About

Dr. Md. Alamgir Hossain is Professor of the Department of Information and Communication Technology at Islamic University, Kushtia, Bangladesh, with over 18 years in academia and research. Specializing in image processing, computer vision, and machine learning, he develops efficient algorithms for real-time surveillance, video stabilization, and medical imaging, authoring 12+ publications in journals like IEEE Access and Multimedia Tools and Applications, plus a U.S. patent application for object detection. His Ph.D. from Kyung Hee University (2021) and top-ranked M.Sc./B.Sc. from Islamic University underpin innovative projects, including deep learning for thoracic organ segmentation and ViT-SRGAN-enhanced surveillance systems. Fluent in Bengali, English, and Korean, he mentors ACM-ICPC teams, leads the EDGE digital skills program, and envisions inclusive AI for global challenges.

Research Areas

Image Processing and Computer Vision

Focus on real-time object detection, background subtraction, video stabilization, motion saliency detection, and enhanced surveillance systems (e.g., ViT-SRGAN-based approaches).

Machine Learning and Deep Learning

Development of algorithms for feature extraction, action recognition using CNNs, fuzzy decision-based task offloading in MEC networks, and applications in rice disease detection.

Medical Imaging and Healthcare Applications

Segmentation of thoracic organs at risk using CT images, 3D medical image synthesis with advanced diffusion models for improved visualization and analysis.

Edge Computing and Network Security

Efficient load management, dynamic task offloading in vehicular edge networks, and intelligent cloud systems.

Algorithm Design and Representations

Emphasis on dynamic weight-based feature combinations, trade-offs in accuracy vs. complexity, and patent-pending methods for real-time video analysis.
